DMZ

Growing up I lived in a neighborhood that my dad lovingly referred to called it the DMZ.  The post code, schools, and other utilities all came from different cities.  When I went to the real DMZ in South Korea, I remembered this childhood memory.

The DMZ is also know as the De-Militarized Zone between North Korea and South Korea.  It is located along the 38th Parallel, here is some information about it.  I never did go to Panmunjeom, but I did see the observatory, tunnel, and the train station.  I always stayed on the South Korean side, which has become a tourist spot for some people visiting South Korea.

Here are some lovely pictures.

No photos allowed taken beyond this point, but standing behind the line and snapping away is okay!

Entrance to the platform

There is a story behind these two pictures.  There was a large tour group in front of me (I think Japanese) having their pictures taken with these two soldiers, however none of the members of that group were allowed to stand between the two soldiers.  I asked if I could have my picture taken with them, and then stood to the side like how all the other people had.  The solder with the white gloves on, moved so I was between them.  Maybe it was because I was a lot taller, or maybe because I made them laugh.  Who knows, but it sure was fun!
